OISAA International Symposium 2026

As the largest forum for the intellectual diplomacy of Indonesian students on the global stage, the symposium brings together young students from every corner of the world for five days to shape the diaspora's contribution towards Indonesia Emas 2045 — an agenda that demands collaboration across borders, not merely an annual ceremony.

Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia (PPI) is the association of Indonesian students pursuing their education abroad. Its history began with the founding of the Indische Vereeniging in the Netherlands in 1908, which gave students from the Dutch East Indies a place to gather. The organisation was renamed Perhimpunan Indonesia in 1920, and in 1922 the name Perhimpunan Pelajar Indonesia was formally adopted — an initiative of national figures such as Mohammad Hatta, Ali Sastroamidjojo and Iwa Kusumasumantri.

Egypt was not chosen as host by chance. Cairo and Luxor represent two great eras of human civilisation, offering a setting that connects deep historical roots to Indonesia's vision for the future. The symposium is expected to produce concrete policy recommendations from within the diaspora, strengthen professional networks across countries, and deepen the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Egypt.
